An obamaite parable: the not for profit servant

An Obamaite Bible Reading: The parable of the Not-for-profit servant.

Today’s reading is from Matthew 25: The kingdom is like a businessperson traveling abroad who calls her underlings and gives them responsibilities. To one she gave $5,000,000.00, to another $2,000,000.00, and to another $160,000,000.00. While she was gone they each took care of business. When the businessperson returned she took account of each one’s effort. The first said “I have taken your five and through business have doubled it.” To this the businessperson replied: “What, how can I get a good tax write-off with you doing things like that? At least it will now go to the must productive and deserving of our citizens: bureaucrats (not that this is a judgment, mind you, of those other deserving citizens, those banished to a life of welfare).” The second underling came and said, “I have taken your $2,000,000.00 and doubled it as well.” To this the businessperson replied “At least I didn’t give you $5,000,000.00. Nonetheless, your pink slip is at the door.”  Finally the last underling came. “Boss, I have taken your $1,000,000.00 and used to help educational pursuits in the inner city. I don’t have anything to show for it except some dilapidated, boarded-up buildings, and a bunch of machine pols who are enthused about my efforts. I was able to use my position, however, to give people hope, and the promise of a better future. I think the future is great, because let’s face it, nothing I have done in the past can in anyway predict the future I promise. ” The businessperson than answered: “Great job!! Because you have proven yourself completely inadequate, underperforming, distracted, and faithless in these little things, I have decided to let you be the CEO of all my enterprises. You have made good friends of the unrighteous mammon, and so I can only imagine that when you organize our new community, I won’t have to worry about dolling out my money to overachievers.” At this the not-for-profit servant promised that he really would make sure all monies would go down black holes, and make sure that the boss would have lots of losses to write off her bottom line.

Here ends the lesson.
